Spicy Bean Burger
Made with Branston Beans
Ingredients
Serves 4
For the burger
560g Branston Beans, drained of sauce (keep this for the sweet chilli dip)
½ white onion, finely diced
½ red pepper, finely diced
½ yellow pepper, finely diced
½ tsp salt
Pinch of cracked black pepper
6g garlic puree
70g breadcrumbs
3g chilli paste
10g cooking oil
1g tabasco
For the sides:
1 medium tomato
20g gem lettuce
1 tbsp mayonnaise
For the sweet chilli dip:
175g sweet chilli sauce
100g Branston Beans sauce
Method
- Separate the Branston Beans from the sauce with a sieve, keeping the sauce to use in the sweet chilli dip.
- Next, add the cooking oil to a medium-sized pan on medium heat and fry the onion and peppers until soft. Leave to one side to cool.
- Using a food processor, blend together the Branston Beans, salt, black pepper, garlic puree, breadcrumbs, chilli paste and tabasco.
- Into this, fold the cooked onions and peppers then (using your hands) shape the mix into four burgers.
- Pan-fry each burger on a low heat for approx. 10 minutes on each side, or until hot in the middle.
- While the burgers are cooking, mix the sweet chilli sauce with the Branston Beans sauce.
- When the burgers are done, serve them on a brioche burger bun with sliced tomatoes, gem lettuce, mayonnaise, and the sweet chilli sauce. Enjoy!
